Jeanne-Michelle and Steve Smith have founded "The Human-Kind Project", because not only would they consider it, but they think that people would embrace it, if the life they've always wanted had more value than celebrity and fame and riches!
The aim is to generate enough finances through selling a variety on online products to start a responsible eco resort in a remote location that would benefit from employment opportunites, educational opportunities and financial assistance.
Jeanne and Steve have been raised in Africa, have lived in South East Asia, Africa and Central America working in the hospitality industry. The one dominant factor they have found in their travels and work is that often the local communities do not benefit hugely from the resorts and the vast majority of the money that is invested in these ventures, is filtered away from the community.
During their years living in Nicaragua, Central America on The Little Corn Islands where they worked as a managment couple for an 'eco resort', they came to understand that taking a more active role in the community would have benefited the owners of the business far more. The island had a dehibilitating rubbish problem with bagloads washing up on the beach daily. No refuse collection was in place, and the local community got together to begin collections. Transporting the rubbish off the island became the next hurdle to overcome, but without financial assistance, this could not and was not achieved.
A little piece of paradise that has slowly become a small rubbish tip with the locals burning plastic daily to try and eliminate it.
